Scientists from Dobrudzha Agricultural Institute – General Toshevo (DAI) took part in the 5th International Congress on Agriculture AGRIBALKAN 2023. The event took place in Edirne, Republic of Turkiye, during 20th – 23rd September 2023. The major event organizer was the Trakya University in Edirne, with the active support of Trakya Universities’ Union, Balkan Universities Association, Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University (Turkiye), Çanakkale Onsekizmart University (Turkiye), Uludag University (Turkyie), Agrarian University – Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Thrace University – Stara Zagora (Bulgaria), Democritus University of Thrace (Greece), Agricultural Academy (Bulgaria), Romanian Academy (Romania) and other Balkan institutions. Scientist from 25 countries participated in the congress with over 475 research papers presented by more than 1100 authors. This was a hybrid forum that allowed virtual participation, as well. The overall intention of the event was to unite the interests of science and business in the sphere of seed production and search for solutions related to sustainable production under risky climate environment.
DAI was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Galina Mihova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Galin Georgiev, Chief Assistant Dr. Zornitsa Petrova and agronomist Atanas Atanasov. They presented a research on following of the dynamics of phenological development and productivity formation in common winter wheat by using portable precise equipment.
In addition to presentation of their research papers, our participants also prepared an exhibition stand with well-known innovative research products – seeds from cereal and leguminous crops and sunflower hybrids, a result from the breeding activity of DAI.
