Due to the drought, many crops in South Bulgaria haven’t emerged. This, on one part, is ok, because at this stage the drought is severe”.
The general picture is that in Dobrudzha wheat has emerged the most and has settled best. However, drought will put a pressure on it. Due to the insufficient moisture, the crop is not able to form good roots and will suffer. Some plants may perish, if unable to extract moisture. Under such conditions, the crops become thinner. However, when they start forming tillers, the tillering will be more intensive and will compensate for the lower density.
This is an alarming situation. Rainfalls could provide a solution.
